As the release date of the expected game Crimson Desert (March 26) is approaching, the well-known analysis team of "Digital Foundry" has gone to work and revealed the technical details of the PlayStation 5 Pro version of this work.
The results were such that John Linman, the senior analyst of this team, was surprised.
High-end PC experience Richard Leadbetter, Director of Digital Foundry, mentioned to IGN that Pearl Abyss allowed them to fully review the game without any restrictions.
He believes that the main focus should be on CPU stress; Although the game is heavy, its overall performance is satisfactory in all three visual modes.
Leadbetter praised the game's massive scale, expansive world, and system-driven nature, describing the experience on the PS5 Pro as equivalent to running the game on a high-end PC.
game visual modes; What do we expect?
The PlayStation 5 Pro version of the Crimson Desert game offers three main modes for setting graphics, which we will examine below:
Performance Mode: This mode is designed for speed.
With VSync enabled, the game is locked at 60fps.
But if your monitor supports VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), the framerate can go beyond 60 frames.
In this case, we see the use of Ray Tracing, and the resolution of the game is increased from 1080p to 4K by Sony's PSSR technology.
Balanced Mode: A smart combination of quality and speed.
In this case, the basic resolution is 1440p, which is upscaled to 4K, and retracing is still active.
The target frame rate in this case with VSync is 40, which will reach over 48 frames in displays with VRR.
Quality Mode: For lovers of pure graphics; This mode offers true 4K resolution with retracing and the frame rate stays fixed at 30.
Technical Challenges and Bright Future with PSSR 2 John Linman described the game as "stunning" in his analysis video, but also raised some important technical points.
He stated that in Performance mode, the game tries hard to reach 60 frames, but in large battles and crowded areas that put a lot of pressure on the CPU, we see frame drops (even up to around 30FPS in some areas).
The most important point here is that the reviewed version of Digital Foundry did not yet use the new PSSR 2 technology.
"Apparently PSSR 2 will be used in the final version of the game, so we can't make a final judgment right now," Linman explained. However, in the current version due to the use of older PSSR technology, some visual anomalies such as blurring around plants and noise in retracing sections have been observed, which will hopefully be fixed in the final update.
Crimson Desert game will be released on March 26 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
